橡胶空气弹簧俗称气胎、波纹气胎、气囊等。它是一 种精密设计的橡胶纤维波纹管，本身并不提供力或支载荷，而是通过空气压缩机向其内部充入压缩空气来实现力的传递和弹性作用。根据对行程的要求，空气弹簧一般被设计为1-3曲， 需要时也可以设计制造成4曲或5曲以上，在一定条件下还可以将两个空气弹簧叠加使用。
由于空气弹簧拥有如上特点，被日益广泛的应用于汽车、造纸机、升降举升台、压力机振动运输机、振动筛、空气锤、振动试验机铸造机械等需要进行行程控制或减振、隔振的设备或仪器上。
